Back to School Clothing Program

Portage County Job ad Family Services is pleased to provide the Back to School Clothing Program again for 2019.  This prevention, retention ad contingency program provides vouchers to be used to purchase school clothing and shoes for eligible school aged children (Kindergarten - 12th grade) in receipt of SNAP or TANF benefits.  The income guidelines for this program are 200% of the federal poverty guideline. 

Applications will be available from July 8, 2019 - August 16, 2019.  Applications can be picked up at Portage County Job and Family Services, located at 449 S. Meridian St., Ravenna, Ohio on the 2nd floor or in the Ohio Means Jobs center located at 253 S. Chestnut St., Ravenna, Ohio.  Applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis with the approval/voucher amount contingent on funding availability.  Applicants must be Portage County residents and the household must include school age children who are currently attending and/or enrolled in school grades K-12. Approvals and/or denials will be mailed to applicants and the vouchers will be available for pick up every Wednesday beginning July 24, 2019 through September 25, 2019, between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm at the Ohio Means Jobs center.  The applicant or their authorized person (listed on the "Back to School" application) must provide the approval letter and a current picture ID. 

One of the two participating stores must be named on the application, either Gabe's in Kent or Burlington in Cuyahoga Falls.  The vouchers must be used prior to September 30, 2019 or it will be invalid.  Lost or damaged vouchers will not be replaced.
