Red Cross Pillowcase Project

Students show their customized pillow cases.

The American Red Cross visited the Junior High students to work with them on the Pillowcase Project, which is sponsored by Disney.  Students were educated about emergency situations and how to respond when faced with one. Students in Mrs. Harrah's class had the opportunity to learn about various emergencies and create a personalized pillowcase. The Red Cross speaker offered suggestions, tips/tools, and a preparedness toolkit to students. The students worked on their pillowcases during the class period and reviewed vital supplies they should have in their pillowcases in the event of an emergency. The pillowcases and fabric markers were graciously donated.

One of our school goals is to teach students about real-life situations while inviting commuity members and organizations into the classrooms. We thank the American Red Cross for volunteering their time to Windham.
