Students in Mrs. Harrah's class had the opportunity to learn about various emergencies and create a personalized pillowcase. The Red Cross speaker offered suggestions, tips/tools, and a preparedness toolkit to students. The pillowcases and fabric markers were graciously donated.

Read to Succeed National Winners!

Mr. Pennell's grade 6 class earned the Read to Succeed Award from Achieve 3000. Achieve 3000 is a program where students receive differentiated instruction according to their reading capabilities. Mr. Pennell's class goal is for each student to complete five articles a week, earning a 75% or higher on their assessments. Students have the opportunity to read non-fiction text and practice their reading comprehension skills and also write in response to their reading. Achieve 3000 recognized Mr. Pennell's class for their accomplishment of receiving a 75% or higher on their assignments in a specific time period. Achieve 3000 tracked how many assignments the class completed and for each completed assignment, the class accumulated points. Our students are continually working hard to achieve success, and we are so proud of them.

Pennies for Patients Fundraiser at KT Elementary Pennies for Patients

The Student Council at Katherine Thomas Elementary will be heading up a fundraiser called Pennies for Patients, beginning Monday, January 9th and running through Friday, January 27th.  We are collecting loose change and donating all of the money to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Each student will receive a small collection box to bring home.  We ask that you help your child bring the collected money back to school to give to their teacher.  There is also a website link if you'd like to donate and help our cause!  We are excited to teach our students that they can make a change.  Because of our efforts, we hope to help blood cancer patients live better, longer lives.  If you'd like to donate online, please click here.  Thank you in advance! #windhamfamily
