September is designated as Attendance Awareness Month to help educate families on the importance of school attendance. A student can be considered chronically absent if he/she misses as few as two days of school a month! According to attendanceworks.org, students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year in order to stay engaged and on track for graduation.
