Spanish teacher, Ms. Sobol, is the recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship which will provide her an all expenses paid opportunity to travel to South American countries this summer. The Fulbright Program is an international scholarship program of competitive, merit-based grants for students, scholars, teachers, professionals, scientists, and artists. The purpose of the program is to foster leadership, learning, and empathy between cultures. Those awarded this scholarship serve to promote, improve, and develop modern foreign language and area studies in countries where the United States has diplomatic relations. Ms. Sobol will travel to Ecuador and Peru which is organized by the Center for Latin American Studies at The Ohio State University.  This four week program from June to July will take 12 professionals selected out of over 80 participants to benefit from a wide variety of activities that will explore the history, politics, language, and culture of the Andes. Ms. Sobol will participate in local customs and cultural activities, curriculum development projects, language training in Quechua, and visit many sites. Ms. Sobol is in her fourth year of teaching at Windham and is the only Spanish teacher in the district. She coordinates the ELL program as well. We are proud of Ms. Sobol and all of her dedication to the Spanish program! Congratulations! # windhamfamily
